News from the Southwest Chapter
The Southwest Florida Lake Management Society Chapter
participates in Lake Seminole Clean-up
Pinellas County recently dropped the water level in the County’s second largest lake, Lake Seminole. The reason for this was to allow habitat restoration projects along the shoreline of the lake. The County is also taking advantage of the low water levels to clean trash from the shoreline. Leading this effort is the current president of the Southwest Chapter, Kelli Hammer Levy, seen below sitting on a pile of trash collected during one of the clean-ups.

The County partnered with Keep Pinellas Beautiful to manage the event. The results from the cleanup can be found on their website at Keep Pinellas Beatutiful . Seen below are Kelli and Bill Sanders, of Keep Pinellas Beautiful. The cleanup and opportunity of “walk on the bottom of Lake Seminole” drew 464 volunteers and netted over 20 tons of debris.
